The YMCA is for people of all ages, abilities and incomes. We offer a variety of active adult programs including group exercise classes, aquatic fitness classes, games and social opportunities, medically based classes, and day and multi-day trips. Our programs allow older adults to remain active and grow in spirit, mind and body.

SENIOR HOT SPOT
The Chickahominy Family YMCA is very excited to announce the start of a wonderful community senior resource and activity center, called the
“Hot Spot”.   We are opening our Pavilion from 9-noon Monday through Friday to serve the seniors of our community through FREE programs, activities, resource listings, social events, seminars and classes that are geared to serving the interests and needs of this population to maintain a healthy lifestyle and enhance their ability at independent living.

ACTIVE ADULT GAMES
Each fall, the branches participate in the annual Active Adult Games, which provide older adults from the Richmond and Petersburg Areas a chance for competition and is association with the Virginia Senior Games. Visit your local branch for more information.

MONTHLY LUNCHEONS
Join other older adults for a monthly luncheon and wellness program. The luncheon is held the second Wednesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Sandston Recreation Center. There are also special trips and events. For additional information contact Tricia Powell at

EXERCISE CLASSES

Arthritis Exercise Program
This class promotes optimum joint flexibility, muscular strength, endurance, coordination and cardiovascular conditioning for persons with Arthritis.

Time:  Tues & Thurs. 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Facility Members: Free
Community Members:  $37 per month

SilverSneakers®- Muscular Strength & Range of Movement Silver Sneakers Logo
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Time:  Mon. & Fri. 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Water Exercise Classes
Low impact exercise workout in shallow water. No swimming involved. Benefits include cardiovascular fitness and muscle toning.

Time: Mon. Wed. 8 - 9 a.m.
Mon. & Fri.: 9:05 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Mon. Wed. and Fri 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Strides
Water walking, stretching & toning class with plenty of opportunity to socialize.

Time: Tues. 9:05 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Aquatic Arthritis Exercise Program
The Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program is a recreational program conducted in a heated pool. Improve joint flexibility, reduce pain and stiffness, through a series of exercises.

Time: Mon., Wed. & Fri. 10:00 am-11:00 am
Facility Members: Free
Community members:  $45 per month
